THE ROYAL SIGN LEO

Those born under Leo or those who have Leo dominant in their Chart will recognize some of the well known characteristics in their nature – generosity, command, certain charisma, self confidence, good fortune, leadership, optimism and abundant energy and affection.

As the important Sun Sign or birth sign under which you come into the world influences your approach to life, so the Leo nature looks at things from a royal or dignified position. This is the tendency, whether deserved or not, as the focus of the personality is centred and derives from an innate conviction in self worth, identification with inner power and appreciation of the powerful energy that flows out to others through his magnanimity and affection.

Like the sun, the nature of a Leo born person is at its finest when bestowing upon others the sunny energies and attitudes that are associated with the Sun itself.  However, as all positive life expressions depend upon emotional stability, circumstances that provide opportunity as well as appropriate choices in career and in life, the best of this sign is evident when a Leo is firmly established in a career or lifestyle that is in accord with the finest principles.

Then the wonderful benign qualities and expansive outlook on life will benefit others around without the trappings of personal ego that sometimes are apt to become inflated when we realise our inner power and capability to rule.

POLARITIES IN A PERSONAL CHART

There are two major polarities for consideration in the personal horoscope – one being the Sun and Moon relationship and the other being the Sun (or Birth) Sign and the Rising Sign representing influences that must be reconciled.

POLARITIES – SUN AND MOON

The Sun sign is an indication of strong spiritual or inner goals, talents and application towards worldly as well as spiritual advancement in evolution of the soul. In the personality it represents all the positive virtues and outward expressions of magnanimity, generosity, happiness and other positive character traits related to the inner self and inner powers and enduring life motivations and attitudes.

The Moon’s work regarding the spiritual aspect, is to reflect all these virtues through the brain and personality and it is through the zodiacal placement of the Moon at birth that it functions.  But as the Sun represents the constant or inner spiritual self, the Moon is the emotional self that changes and responds to all situations and influences within the practical climate of daily living environment.

This creates an inner tension or energy pattern in need of polarization and harmonizing by the personal discipline and self culture of each individual.  To give an example –

Sun in Aries – has strong leadership qualities being dominant, assertive, confident, adventurous, self centred, courageous.

Moon in Pisces – a sensitive, self sacrificing and often poetic nature with vague moods and variable emotions of different responses and colour like an opal gemstone. For an Aries to reflect the Sun qualities in a personality with gentle and diffused emotions is obviously a challenge that requires a degree of self understanding.

Such a ‘recipe’ of a common basic polarity or duality is explicitly interpreted  by the great astrologer Alan Leo ..“ This combination is not altogether a harmonious one, the action of the sun being too strong for the lunar position, producing a discontented, restless, and often worrying nature But it tones down considerably the impulsiveness of Aries, and when the two are working harmoniously, it increases the kindliness of the nature, and gives a love of the occult, the profound and mysterious.”…..

When the Birth Sign and the Moon happen to fall in the same sign (in conjunction) the exercise in Polarity is not applicable and the factors must be interpreted differently.

POLARITIES – SUN SIGN AND RISING SIGN

The Sun sign and the Rising Signs are not always as diametrically opposed as the above example  but to identify the major known characteristics of each Sign and you have a clear understanding of the differences in your nature that must become integrated.

For example, if your Sun Sign is Taurus, stable, firm, slow and accumulative regarding material things as well as being engaged in constructive enterprises, you may have to use a deal of self control of your more aggressive emotions and attitudes that could cause errors made in haste under the influence of a Rising Sign of Aries.

It is a very constructive exercise to actually list the virtues and failings of each of the two Signs in your horoscope and it will be evident to you where and why your personal psychological conflicts exist.

Remembering that the Rising Sign represents the body, outer personality and what you outwardly show to the world on the stage of life that Shakespeare reminds us of , to quote, “All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players…….”   the Sun Sign indicates the true inner soul that is journeying through life with a spiritual purpose.

BORN UNDER CANCER

One of the greatest influences of the zodiacal sign Cancer is the great talent of imagination and sensitivity. This encourages heightened creativity and freedom of mind.

However, because its Ruler is the Moon, there are fluctuating periods of expression. Bring a watery Sign it also is capable of displaying all the moods of this Water Element, ranging from quietude of lakes and still waters to the raging of floods and tempestuous oceans.

Feelings and emotions are finely tuned and it takes little to encourage a positive mood and confidence as a few spoken negative words can plunge a Cancerian into depression because of a hyper-sensitive ego. But perhaps others would not be aware of this on account of the nature being somewhat private or even secretive.

It is understood that there are two types of Cancerians – one the gentle, sensitive, lazier introvert and the other with hidden fire that is sparked to great activity when emotionally moved by greater or nobler issues beyond the personal.

The greatest discipline would seem to be to channel emotions and creativity into constructive or productive channels. This requires breaking free of the security of home and safety and gently loosening any of the tighter maternal attachments that are common in both males and females of this sign.

The influences that are exerted by Cancer and the Moon incline towards spontaneous relationships that require little mental analysis or compromise and many flow into marriages and partnerships of convenience rather than deliberate, more passionate associations.

Blessed with a fine and responsive memory, there is little of their life experience that cannot be brought to mind or applied when required. Their best application is evident in practical skills or learning, often related to the arts. In females the finest qualities flourish in motherhood and tending those who need protection as a male is comfortable in a career or work involving a protective element.

As we all have complex natures, and the zodiacal indications that have become known through long observation and passed on by tradition may be helpful in self discovery, and identification of some certain features, it must always be remembered that these characteristics will be heightened, modified or negated by other factors such as planetary configurations at the moment of your birth.
