Perhaps there are races so much more advanced than us in one way or another that we would get a different perspective, if we were to acknowledge this likelihood, or even make contact with those who are different from us.

Some people who have evolved on other planets in other densities than our own are bound to interest us in their technologies, their attitudes, their abilities and even in their mastery of the dimensions we only know as 4^th and 5^th dimension. There are some theorists who believe that there exist seven spheres or dimensions within the Cosmos. As we on earth are struggling to learn about the third and fourth we must be aware that we ourselves are at the beginner stage in our understanding of the universe and its layers of worlds beyond our own.

Contact or exploration to other planets is of great interest as is the future exploration beyond our solar system to the reaches beyond, not by mechanical means, but by our own direct experience.

It no longer is a question of whether life exists on other planets. We have come to terms with the fact that where nature has placed forms, there is life. What sort of life? This is what we are now generally questioning with science fiction imagination offering us some weird and wonderful suggestions as to variations of shapes of human beings. So not only density is a factor – as to whether other races are solid as our forms, or exist is subtler matter but we are preparing ourselves to learn one day of the truth and whether ‘teleporting’ and ‘telepathy’ and ‘space  travel’  and talents beyond television are indeed possible!

Many people all over the world attest to having had communication with humans who have come from space and are concerned about our welfare on Earth. Most of these visitors seem to give the same reminder that we should cease negative actions that affect both our physical environment and our mental world.

Many of these reports are regarded by others as subjective psychic or psychological experiences and judged to be curious but of little worth. This is because it is not known how extensive are investigations by serious explorers in psychic and psychological investigation in fields of the metaphysical.

So the matter of life in Space for the moment remains to a large extent a plaything of science fiction and public speculation.

As the newer planets-Uranus, Neptune and Pluto were discovered, the essential research to confirm their influence upon the Earth and upon us as its inhabitants, intensified and is firmly recorded in astrological data.

We are faced recently with the planet Pluto being demoted to a dwarf status by astronomers who believe there is sufficient reason to do so.

Until there is much more information available, astrologers can safely feel confident in the traditional system which permits Pluto to be identified as a planet and its influence known upon human nature. Its effect cannot be denied as imporotant in the interpretation of an individual chart.

We will have to face many other changes as time goes by but for the present, we are encouraged to remain faithful to the facts that have accumulated in astrological science and that continue to provide a firm foundation for both the potential advancements in both astronomy and astrology, regardless of future additions. It is not likely that we will find changes in nomenclature disturbing, nor reject any new found planets in our known family of the solar system.

For decades those who were receptive to the spiritual forecast regarding great natural upheavals and changes to herald era are now convinced we are in the middle of these changes that will present us not only with ‘climate change’ alterations in temperature but with volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, mud slides, torrential rains, floods, snowstorms, hurricanes and bushfires. Increasing extreme weather patterns are here and becoming more difficult, even in Australia, a continent that is used to flood and fire and famine, the last is giving some cause for concern because of the extent of crop losses recently. Naturalists are anxious about the numbers of species that have become extinct over the last century.

Whatever the suggested and acknowledged causes of these happenings throughout the world, we are becoming alert to the fact that Nature has big changes on the agenda, and bigger ones to come if predictions are accurate. We should all anticipate changes that are beyond the changes that technology and human activity has brought about. These are changes directed by Nature, the supreme and overwhelming power that can create, and also shake planets.

Understanding that changes are evolutionary events in Nature will allow us to accept and to face whatever events occur in a spirit of love and gratitude towards our tenure on beautiful Earth, and on behalf of all humanity, offer an apology for all our wrongdoing during our residence.

But what is the influence the Earth has upon the other planets?

Our tardiness in posing this very important question points to our questionable readiness to relate to what we find living on other planets.  Locked in our limited self- interests, we are slow to imagine the possibility of a real inter-relationship with intelligences outside our little home planet.

In the past there have been suggestions about how mankind on Earth could ‘make use of the Moon’ with some proposing its suitable use as a dumping ground for nuclear waste – a suggestion that will make many of us blush nowadays, and hopefully shock others into entertaining a more intelligent concept and perhaps a more romantic one, of the gentle Moon with its protective maternal role in regard to the Earth.

The attitudes amongst us ‘earthlings’ have a considerable way to go if we are to develop the maturity of thoughts and ideas required in readiness for potential future explorations and contacts with life beyond our world.

Many who are vitally aware of the likelihood of there being intelligent life throughout the universe have been receptive to the messages of concern expressed by those who claim to be visiting us from other planets. Their concerns are about the extent of damage we have been responsible for in harming the earth itself and its microbic life and poisoning our waterways with toxic chemicals. We have yet to realise that we may have passed the point where it is possible to redeem the system Nature established so amazingly with what we term ‘organic’ and ‘renewable’ ecological systems.

It would seem that with our imagination is well exercised to consider what questions and interests visiting space people would ask of us and what, in particular, are the questions we would choose to ask them. Hopefully we would be able to demonstrate some degree of concern as to how our mistakes are affecting our sibling planets.

Earth planet has been called by some ‘the jewel planet’ being so beautiful and abundant in its natural life.  It has also been called ‘the planet of sorrows’ which is not as attractive and should make us realise that our influence generated on our Earth has possible negative effects on our neighbouring planets.

It will be up to us to change the situation if we are to better reflect the beauty and the wonders of this luxurious homeland.

Just as some have not cultivated a delight and appreciation of harmonious music best heard in the beautiful examples of classical music and follow the modern trends that accent discords and drumbeat so we differ in our musical appreciation and our responses to life and its sounds.

When considering the scale and the wonder of natural creation beyond material and practical daily life, we can only maintain a sense of humility in our efforts to explore the cosmic realities to which we also aspire. In attempting to understand our family of planets within this immediate Solar System that is our home we are offered an exercise that is within our capability.

The principles of astrological lore assist us in this, just as the echoes of some of the deeper spiritual realities inherent in our classical myths and legends can inspire us.  Intuition allows us to sometimes hear these whispered distillations of greater truths and we must learn to trust our intuition.

As Astronomy helps us to know the physical body of a planet it is Astrology that helps us to know of the soul or life that inhabits it and radiates power and energy.

Could we conceive each member of the planetary family represents the quality and creative spirit of a god, or supreme intelligence as a living musician in the heavens, then by our developing studies we come to hear and understand both the instrument and the qualities of the music or message of that planet and perhaps ultimately of the cosmic orchestration in the spheres beyond.

At a time when we are observing planets in other systems far beyond the reaches of our own sun, we are struggling to determine guidelines as to what constitutes a planet and how many exist in our own Solar System before naming these objects to satisfy all.

There are changes that many will not be aware of – for instance Ceres, Pallas and Vesta, once classed as planets for more than 50 years, are now designated status as Asteroids under the newly established committee of experts. Pluto seems to have lost the status once enjoyed.

The International Astronomical Union or IAU has recently issued information that stands firm at present with many astronomers being in accord with the following criteria.

A planet is seen as a spherical object in orbit around the sun and of sufficient size to have cleared a free orbital pathway.

Current official recognition accepts that in our Solar System it applies to 8 planets and to 3 of dwarf planet status.

Planets – Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars – the Terrestrial Planets

Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune –the Gas Giant Planets

Dwarf Planets – Ceres, Pluto and Eris

Ice Dwarfs – those composed mainly of ice – Pluto and Eris are classed as Ice Dwarfs

This does not mean there will be no changes in the future but at least we can feel temporarily secure in the knowledge that there are now 11 planets in our planetary ‘family’ with some predicting that a 12^th is on the way!

Satellites – Planets are capable of maintaining satellites. The present observations conclude that although Mercury and Venus have none :

Earth has 1 satellite (our Moon), Mars has 2, Jupiter has 63, Saturn has 56, Uranus has 27 and Neptune has 13.

We will all have to learn how to keep pace with advances not only in discoveries but in the progress of astronomical science and its adopted terminology.

Perhaps it will also help us all to be aware of other terms “exoplanets” and “extrasolar planets” that are being used when referring to the 209 planets currently having been observed orbiting remote stars outside our own Solar System.

The general properties are well known in this way, but there are subtler influences beyond material comforts and pleasures. To relate Venus as the planet of Love we must embrace the range of this emotion if we are to be able to interpret an individual’s chart so that we can apply our knowledge appropriately.

To some people, love is equated with sensory excitation, sexual pleasure and a general affection towards others. Those who experience the consuming nature of passionate love it is as an emotion more related to fire.  There are many other expressions such as the gentle love of a mother to child, the tender feeling of a child to its parents, the satisfying balance of shared friendship and a thousand opportunities life presents to us to love, to give and to share.

In realization of the highest spiritual form of love expression we extend beyond any particular focus of love into a degree of embracement of all life and this is the most refined gift the planet Venus can bring us. But it is rare. We must first prove our integrity by becoming incapable of defiling or debasing this most sacred emotion by being motivated by self satisfaction or self interest, and demonstrate that love is in the giving.

The placement of Venus in your Chart will certainly indicate where your material good fortune lies or the ease you experience in relationships, creative arts and home decoration. But beyond this, we bear in mind it is the symbol of that elusive harmony of energies we see as Beauty and feel as Love.
