Your Soul
THE DREAM OF LIFE
by Crystal Rogers
I stood beneath the canopy of Heaven
And watched the midnight sky alight with stars -
Countless celestial globes whirling through space,
Continuing throughout years of countless time.
So as I marvelled, wondering in my heart
How planets so far distant, so remote,
Could have effect upon the lives of men,
Control their fate and shape their destinies,
Sleep’s passing shadow fell across my eyes
And falling down upon the grass I lay
And slept – and sleeping, dreamed………
………………..
And in my dream behold I thought I saw
A thronging multitude – the great unborn,
Waiting the moment that should come to each,
The moment that, when donning robe of flesh,
They should descend into this world of ours
And be made mortal…..
So did I watch this vast and countless throng,
And even as I watched behold I saw
Another Being radiant and divine,
Bearing a scroll of parchment in his hand:
And silence fell upon the multitude
Who now I saw had gathered into groups,
Twelve groups in number, separate and distinct,
Each with a leader, who now coming forth,
Faced the bright angel, kneeling at his feet.
So did they kneel before him, twelve in all,
The representative of each vast group.
Then to each one in turn the Angel came,
And placed his hand upon each low-bent head,
And reading from the massive scroll he bore
These were the words he said : -
…………..
“Aries arise! Thou shalt be brave and true,
With dauntless heart, the fearless pioneer
Fighting alone against tremendous odds
But never doubting victory is near.
Keep faith, of Aries! Let not pride assail,
Or arrogance cause thee to forge ahead
At the expense of others – never fail
To think of those who, being more easily led,
Need thy protection , and perchance thy love:
Trust not in thine own strength but look above.
Oh wisely tend the fire in thine heart
That it may warm, but never scorch or burn,
And let no flames of anger play a part
When faithful friendship brings thee no return.
Curb thine impatience – think before each act,
Let not thy tongue ran faster than thy tact.
Check thine impulsive speech, and let no word
Give hurt to any – rather let thy sword
Sleep in its scabbard: so shalt thou show thy strength,
And governing first thyself, gain all at length.”
………….
“Taurus, the earth shall be thine heritage,
The soil, the fields and all that therein lie,
Contented shalt thou live in youth and age
And peacefully live as thou wouldst wish to die,
Thou shalt be strong, persistent and sincere,
Contented with thy road and with thy lot,
Proud of thy home and all thou holdest dear -
Thy spouse, thy children and thy garden plot.
Taurus beware, for here the danger lies,
Set not your heart upon the things of earth
Nor let possessions cloud nor dim your eyes
To higher things, and things of greater worth.
Let not contentment your ambitions kill,
Better by far to struggle than to sleep:
Confuse not stubborn pride for strength of will
But ever strive an even course to keep.
Let love of beauty rule thy love of power,
Thy love of peace be stronger than thy hate,
Thy steadfastness a strong and shining tower,
And harmony be found within thy gate.
So shalt thou rise, oh Taurus and progress,
And though thy plodding steps may not be fast,
Thou too shalt reach thy final goal no less
And know thy Heaven at last.”
………….
“Oh Gemini – thy quick and nimble mind
May serve to make thy path a primrose way,
Achievements may seem easy for thy kind
And versatility to win the day.
Thou shalt have many friends and interests wide,
And smoothly thy communications flow,
While seldom resting long in any place,
Many towns and countries thou shalt know.
areless and carefree, straight of limb and eye,
In many walks of life thou shalt succeed,
Thy fertile brain all ready to apply
To any project where thou seest the need.
Oh, Gemini, to heights if thou aspire,
Waste not thy powers in many a devious art,
Nought shalt thou gain until thou canst acquire
A singleness of purpose and of heart.
With tireless will and strong determination
Turn from the paths that lead thee from thy goal.
Add to thy powers the one of concentration -
So shalt thou gain perfection for thy soul.”
…………..
“Cancer, to love and cherish is thy task,
The loving parent, guardian, guide and friend;
Thou shalt be one who gives to all who ask
Thy readiness to succour and defend.
Thy tenderness of heart, oh guard it well,
And ever give thine intuition play,
So may’st thou lift another out of Hell
And help another mortal on its way.
Most thin skin and sensitive of mind
The world shall deal thee many a crushing blow,
And wounds that fester caused by words unkind
Which only those most easily hurt can know.
Oh, Cancer, if thy lesson thou would’st learn,
Seek not from life’s hard buffetings to hide,
From thine own path of duty do not turn
But take both pain and beauty in thy stride.
Seek to protect but never to possess,
Dare to accept and not to heed the pain,
So towards Heaven shalt thy soul progress,
And finally its full perfection gain.”

“Leo, on thee the sun shall shed its rays
With power of greatness, and the strength to rise;
Thy path shall lie in many pleasant ways
And wisely trod, shall lead thee to the skies.
Thou shalt know leadership, and born a king,
Thou shall take homage as thy natural right,
To thee shall weaker souls their problems bring,
And on behalf of others shalt thou fight.
With kindliness and warmth shalt thou expand
And shed thy benediction over all,
Granting thy favours with a lavish hand,
Helping the one to rise who else might fall.
Leo, because of these thy many gifts
The greater shall thy temptations be -
Oh guard against those things that may cause rifts,
And quickly crush undue complacency.
Thy love of pleasure thou shalt need to check,
Desire for flattery, love of pomp and fame,
For vanity may very quickly wreck
The honour of a great and glorious name.
Before thou canst demand thou must achieve,
Before thou canst command thou must obey,
And those who would be great must first believe
That others may be greater far than they.
Oh Leo, learn to bend thy royal head
For truly great thou shalt nor use to be
Till thou instead of leading shall be led
And learn at last a true humility.”
…………..
“ Virgo, in service shalt thou live and die -
In health and sickness shalt thou do thy task,
No laurel leaves upon thy brow shalt lie
And no reward shalt thou desire or ask.
In humbleness of mind, in peace or strife,
Thou shalt apply thine energies with zest;
Ready to labour in the field of life,
Ready to offer nothing but thy best.
With detail and precision shalt thou work -
No task shall seem too trivial for thy taste,
And nothing tedious shalt thou seek to shirk
Unwilling only any time to waste.
In purity lf living and of mind,
With body clean, and innocent of eyes,
In others do not failings try to find,
And check thy tendency to criticise.
Fret not thyself with running to and fro
But study to be quiet and be still,
For those who stand and wait perchance may know
A better way to do their mater’s will.
When thou as well as teach can’st also learn,
As well as labour, also learn to wait,
Thou too one day thy rich reward shalt earn,
And find thyself last at Heaven’s gate.”
……………………
“Oh, Libra, thine shall be the balanced mind,
The genial manner, and the easy charm.
No pleasure in contentions shalt thou find
And in the midst of turmoil shalt be calm.
Friendly to all men, sociable at heart,
/thou shalt desire for all an equal share,
And ever ready be to take the part
Of those whose treatment thou may’st deem unfair.
Tranquillity shall be thy chief desire,
And never thine shall be the wish to fight,
A peaceful life is all thou shalt require
And harmony be ever thy delight.
Oh, Libra, let not love of peace and calm
And easy pathways cause thy soul to sleep,
A lazy indolence thy soul shall harm,
And lack of action make the angels weep.
When thou hast learnt the roughest road to choose -
And wavering and indecision cease -
Accept the hard – the easy way refuse,
Thou shalt at last attain a final peace.”
…………………..
“ Oh, Scorpio, unto thee the depths belong,
The depths of feeling and the depths of pain;
T thee the road shall seem both steep and long,
And joys and pleasure s difficult to gain.
They constancy and singleness of heart
Shall mark thee as an ever faithful friend
Where loyalty and love shall play their part
And never falter to the very end.
Thine is the mystic’s prayer, the poet’s dream,
The longing that can never be fulfilled,
The aspirations which to others seem
Ridiculous, presumptuous and self-willed.
Tenacious and determined shalt thou fight
No matter though thou standest all alone,
And do the thing thou deemest to be right
Thou there be none to praise thee or condone.
Because thou greatly fearest to unbend
Thy feelings thou shalt cover up with pride,
And few shall ever fully comprehend
The wealth of deep emotion it shall hide.
Oh let not wounded pride thy judgement mar,
Clutch not the poisoned arrow to thy breast,
For wounds most quickly healed shall leave no scar,
And to forgive shalt be thy highest test.
Oh, Scorpio, when thou feelest most alone,
And every day its disappointment brings,
Remember only those who depths have known
At last shall reach the heights on eagles’ wings.”
……………………
“Oh Sagittarius, freely shalt thou range -
The distant view and pathways shall be thine;
Impatient, restless and in search of change,
For far horizons shalt thou ever pine.
Thy burning arrows thou shalt seek to aim
At distant targets far beyond thy reach,
Expecting other souls to do the same,
And every ready to advise and teach.
Good natured and light hearted, thou shalt find
In laughter and in friendship thy delight;
Adventurous and broad shall be thy mind,
And strong to follow what thou deemest right.
Oh, Sagittarius, watch and have a care,
Shoot not thine arrows till thou takest aim,
Waste not thine efforts in the empty air,
For thus no targets shall thine arrows claim.
When thou hast found the road which thou must take,
And know which way thine arrows thou must send -
When every other source thou shalt forsake,
Thou shalt find Heaven at thy journey’s end.”
………………..
“Oh cautious Capricorn, thy careful feet
Shall guide thy steps down smooth and well-kept ways:
To thee shall prudence ever seem most sweet,
And slow deliberate action win thy praise.
Reserved and diplomatic, thine shall be
The steadying had in every enterprise,
Ready to give to all who come to thee
The benefit of judgement sound and wise.
They wish shall be to order and control,
And eve-patient thou shalt persevere
To keep to earth the would-be soaring soul
Until the way is safe, the passage clear.
Determined and ambitious thou shalt find
In earthly walks of life success and fame,
And for thy careful thought and ponderous mind
The world shall come to honour well thy name.
Look up oh Capricorn, and lift thy head !
But raise them to the stars, and learn instead
That up above is inspiration found.
When thou thy narrow barriers shalt break,
Fling caution to the winds to do and dare,
Embrace the risks thou fearest so to take,
Thou too of Heaven shalt receive thy share.”
………….
“Aquarius, thou shalt be known to all
As one who tends and watereth the earth:
Thou shalt be one who answereth the call
Of other human souls oppressed from birth.
To order and instruct thy wish shall be,
To teach the young, and deal with sick and old,
Correct improve and finally to see
Where it is wise new character to mould.
In literature, invention and in science,
Thy interest and aptitude shall be,
An thy desire to ever make alliance
With all who seek to help humanity.
Calm and detached, dispassionate and cool
Thine aims shall prosper though thou lackest fire,
Unmoved by feelings, imperturbable,
Unswayed by any personal desire
Aquarius, remember e’er too late
That whilst thou fain would benefit the poor
That there are other souls within thy gate
Whom thou art all too ready to ignore.
When thou hast learnt to show a tender heart,
Give warmth for warmth, and answer love with love,
Thou shalt at last of Heaven receive thy part
And know the joys that wait for thee above.”
………………
“Pisces, thou most compassionate of heart,
To sympathise with all is thy desire,
And high idealism plays a part
Where e’er thou findest ought thou canst admire.
Thy sensitive, impressionable mind,
Shall shrink from giving or receiving pain,
And life shall very often seem unkind
And hope of peace on earth to be in vain.
Thy friendship thou shalt give most willingly -
Romantic, friendly, finding no one strange,
While thine immense adaptability
Shall seem to make thee constantly to change.
To thee the world unreal shall sometimes seem,
A flight of fancy like a passing cloud:
Thy tendency shall be to drift and dream
While others fight and struggle in the cloud.
Awake, oh Pisces – wake and look around !
Reality and truth thou needs must face”
Plant thy tow feet more firmly on the ground,
And in life’s daily struggle take thy place.
When strong and faithful thou shalt bring thy mind
To learn the lesson life is meant to teach,
Then only shall thy dreams perfection find
And thou at last the gates of Heaven shalt reach.”
The angel’s voice had faded and grown faint -
The vision dimmed, then vanished and was gone
Like last night’s sunset: only I alone
Remained – remembering …
And as I did so, lo the stars above
Changed from mere twinkling points of aimless light
Into the answer I so long had sought -
The answer to the riddle of the spheres:
My clouds of doubt had gone, the way lay plain -
For suddenly I knew – and understood……
